one to miss out on a celebration, this vibrant carnival city, also
famous for its magnificent Gothic cathedral, hosts a number of beautiful
Christmas markets throughout the festive season. |

The
oldest of the Cologne Christmas markets is the Neumarkt, one of
the city’s liveliest and most enchanting markets set close
to the main shopping district. The traditional medieval market,
with its air of nostalgia and authentic seasonal treats, is well
worth a visit during a Cologne Christmas market holiday. In the
Old Town you will find the Alter Markt – the perfect place
to enjoy a warm glass of glühwein (mulled wine).
Another Cologne Christmas market is the enchanting fairytale
market, hosted on the aptly named Rudolfplatz. There is also a
floating Christmas market on board the elegant cruise vessel,
‘MS Wappen von Mainz’, set along the banks of the
Rhine.
Alongside all the famous sights and attractions of Cologne, during
the Christmas period the city also houses a large ice rink, making
a Cologne Christmas market holiday a great choice for some festive
family fun.
